Institutional-Grade Research on Media & Tech Stocks
Accrued Interest is a research publication for serious investors who want to go beyond the headlines. Written by Simeon McMillan—a former media executive and Wall Street alum—this newsletter applies private equity rigor to public market opportunities.
Why You Should Subscribe
Most financial news is noise. Accrued Interest is signal.
My approach is simple: I treat every stock ticker like a real operating business. I combine the financial discipline of my background at Goldman Sachs with the operational insights I gained leading a broad range of strategic finance, sales and research initiatives at major media companies.
The result is a proprietary research process that has generated a +3,400% time-weighted return (2016–2024) in my personal portfolio.
What You Get
When you subscribe, you get the same level of analysis I use to manage my own family office capital.
Deep Dive Valuation Models: I don’t just give price targets; I explain the math.
Media Industry Tracking: Monthly breakdowns of Nielsen TV Snapshots to track the streaming wars (Netflix, YouTube, Roku) before the earnings calls.
Actionable Long/Short Ideas: Specific pitches with clear time horizons.
Recent Research Examples
I believe in transparency. In my recent “12 Days of Pitch-Mas” series (December 2025), I provided actionable outlooks for 2026, including:
The Bull Cases: Why AppLovin ($APP), Uber ($UBER) and Meta ($META) are poised to outperform consensus.
The Bear Cases: Why structural headwinds will likely cause Paramount ($PSKY), Duolingo ($DUOL), and Fubo ($FUBO) to underperform.
About the Author: Simeon McMillan
I am a TMT (Tech, Media, Telecom) equity research specialist with a dual background in investment banking and corporate operations.
The Investor: I began my career at Goldman Sachs and have spent time working on the buyside at both private equity and hedge funds. I am a winner of the Ira Sohn Investment Idea Contest and the Sonkin Family Prize for Value Investing.
The Operator: I spent the last decade leading strategic finance inside real operating companies—broadcast TV, cable, and digital media. I know how media companies actually make money (and where they hide their losses).
The Education: I hold an MBA from Columbia Business School (Value Investing Program) and a B.S. in Economics from The Wharton School (UPenn).
To paraphrase fellow Columbia alum Warren Buffett: I am a better investor because I am a businessman, and a better businessman because I am an investor.
